Unfrozen is designed with privacy at its core. We built this app to help you clean, not to collect your data. Here's exactly how your information is handled.
When you start a cleaning session, your photo is sent to the Google Gemini API through our Cloudflare Worker proxy for analysis. The proxy exists to protect our API key and to enforce the abuse limit described below — it performs no logging, storage, or processing of your photos. Once the AI generates your cleaning plan, the photo is discarded. Your photos are never stored on any server.
We use Google's Gemini API on a paid plan, which means your data is not used to train Google's models. For details, see Google's Gemini API Terms of Service.
When you finish a cleaning session, the app sends a text-only summary of the session — including AI-generated task descriptions, which tasks were completed or skipped, and any context or feedback you provided — to the Google Gemini API to generate a short behavioral summary of the space. No photos are included in this request. The resulting summary is stored on your device and helps the AI provide better suggestions in future sessions. You can view and clear this memory at any time from the area detail screen.
To keep a single device from running up unlimited AI costs, the proxy enforces a daily request ceiling. The first time you run the app, it generates a random identifier and stores it on your device — not your Apple ID, advertising identifier, or device serial number, and not derived from anything about you or your hardware. The app sends this identifier with each request, and the proxy keeps only the identifier and a running request count for the current day, which is deleted automatically after 48 hours. If a request arrives without the identifier, the count is keyed to the requesting IP address instead. This information is never used for analytics, advertising, or profiling, and it is not linked to your photos, sessions, or any other data.
All of your app data — areas, cleaning sessions, tasks, rounds, settings, and progress — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
Unfrozen does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, phone number, or other personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profiles. The only identifier we handle is the anonymous rate-limiting identifier described above.
Unfrozen does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. We do not track how you use the app, what you tap, or how often you open it.
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. All payment processing occurs through your Apple ID and the App Store. We never receive, process, or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing information.
Unfrozen is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, please contact us.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
